Loskade 45 is a modest family-run hotel and brasserie where you quickly feel at home. Situated in the heart of Middelburg at short walking distances to the station, shops and entertainment amenities.
Attention is our motto. Attention to the food, the ambiance and the environment. And, most important of all, attention to you our guests to ensure your comfort, wellbeing and safety all the time you stay with us.
Loskade is the Dutch word for wharf, and in fact in the 17th and 18th centuries Middelburg was one of the most important port cities used by the VOC or United East India Company.
The building at Loskade 45 was erected in 1879 by Mr B.A. Fokker and served as a warehouse for cordage among other things. The building was given the name “Star of Hope”, depicted as a star above an anchor, which can still be seen on the corner façade. From 1940 the premises were in use as a hotel for a number of years because ‘Hotel aan de Burg’ had been destroyed during a bombardment. Queen Wilhelmina of The Netherlands also stayed here in his period.
In 2015 we started on the realisation of Hotel & Brasserie Loskade 45. The building had to be renovated from top to bottom and inside and out. We think the result of our many months of hard work well worth the effort.
Hotel & Brasserie Loskade 45 is five minutes’ walk from Middelburg train and bus station. Thanks to its central position Middelburg is a fantastic basis from which to explore and discover all that Zeeland offers. The city itself is rich in monuments, historic buildings and streets. Beyond are the Zeeland polders and naturally the many fine beaches which Walcheren boasts.
